Walt write a report on whales
Whales
Whales are mammals because they breathe using lungs. They give birth to real live babies that feed on its mother’s milk. For many months the baby whale stays with its mother until it knows how to swim, dive and breathe. After 12 months baby whales can grow up to 8 meters long.
There are 2 distinct groups of whales, whales with teeth and baleen whales which don’t have teeth. They have bristles instead. When baleen whales eat, they open their mouth wide and get heaps of fish and when they close their mouth the water comes out though their bristles and when all the water comes out they swallow the small fish instead of chewing because they have bristles not teeth. Whales with teeth eat big sea animals like squids, dolphins and seals by biting and chewing them.
Whales move by using their flippers and tail. They move their tail up and down instead of side to side. Other sea creatures move their tails side to side.
Whales are clever because they make noises to see whether they are in danger. They listen to the echo to see if there is a boat or other dangerous things around. If the echo comes back fast, the whale knows it needs to swim away fast and if the echo comes back slow the whale knows it doesn’t need to move yet because the danger is far away.
